Today I finished making all of my Reading Workshop Journals. Another thing checked off the list! (Of course, my list is growing everyday!)
We use our reading workshop journals for several things, and I will write about them more in-depth once I get back in my room, but here's a little sneak peak...
We do "Word Work"--practicing our high frequency words, writing the room (usually looking for a specific letter), and making words using onsets and rhymes. (This work is done in centers).
We also use our notebooks for reading responses. Here are a few examples from last year. But this year, I'm excited to try out Debbie Miller's Reading Workshop and all of her comprehension strategies. So this year I hope to see lots of writing about schema, mental images, inferences, questioning webs, etc. When I do, you know I'll post pictures!
If you would like to use my Reading Workshop Notebook label, here it is!

I absolutely love your website. I just discovered it and I am hooked:) I have already started making my Math Journals. I just printed out your recent download for sorting attributes, which of these things are not like the other. How do you get the sheet to fit on the pages in their journals?

I actually plan on doing these whole-group in our big class notebooks during math warm-up. But you can shrink them down to fit. Most copiers include a function where you can combine pages. You can copy 2, 4, even 6 pages on ONE page. Play around with your copier and see if you can figure it out!
